Queen
We’re now on our fourth week of our month of Visualizing Yourself, where you’ve been using the power of your imagi-Nation to design your future. How exciting is that? Take a second and just congratulate yourself on where you are right now. You’ve made the decision to not only take control of your life, but to make your heart’s desires come true. That. Is. AWESOME!
Now, I’ve said this before, but I think it bears repeating. Visualization is a tool like any other tool. What you achieve by using it depends solely on how you use it. Our brain is incredibly powerful, it is as capable of driving us forward as it is crippling us. Anyone who has suffered with anxiety and/or depression can testify to the lowest lows that our minds can drag us to, and they are scary. The highs? Just as scary, but in the best way possible! Think adrenaline rush, surge of those feel-good hormones, powerful feelings of love, heart racing, OH MY!
Visualization is NOT a one-off exercise. It’s a habit you form, to support your personal goals, and it’s something you need to be reaching out for consistently. Consistency is key, Queen. Rome was not built in a day, and there is no way that you will wake up tomorrow as a different person with a different life. Visualization is about consistently imagining your best outcome, your best self, your best scenario, and about using the confidence and assuredness that you develop through Visualization to go out into the world and GET THINGS DONE!
Your goals for the Visualization need to be SMART – Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-Bound. Yes, it’s fun to imagine things that are completely out there, but your life is not going to be driven forward by the impossible until you connect the dots and make them possible. The work we are doing here is to train ourselves to believe that the feelings we desire IS within our reach and ARE possible, and in fact WILL happen. We can BE, DO, and HAVE the life we dream of, but we do need to do the inner work. I’m not talking about dreaming small Queen, not at all. If you want to become a famous author, or a singer, or a coach, or a doctor, or whatever it is, then that’s the goal you’re working towards, and that’s what you are Visualizing. But, let’s take the example of singing (a personal passion of mine). If I’m about to embark on making a dream as a singer who is entirely supported by revenue from singing a reality, I’m not going to be well-served imagining myself in front of thousands right off the bat. Why? Well, when I get to my first small venue, there aren’t going to be thousands. I can WANT thousands, but if I’m obsessing over those numbers, then I’m going to be cripplingly disappointed when I turn up. If, venue after venue all I see are small numbers, and I’m focused on those masses, then I’m just setting myself down a path where I’ll quickly demoralize myself. In my first steps, while I know that my goal is eventually thousands, what I need to be Visualizing is how my small crowd receives my performance, how well I performed, and the impact I’ve had on those people who showed up to see me. Small steps=Success. Every opportunity is a stepping stone and a training ground for the next dream to occur.
If you’ve missed it, read my blog Intend to be Great… then be Great here on setting intentions for your Visualization practice. Remember to start off with big audacious goals followed by small realistic, concrete milestones that will lead to your success, no matter what your endeavor. We will cover this to give you a better understanding in the Vision Board Workshop on 22nd June.
With all that being said, get back at it Queen. If you’re stalling on your visualizations, remember that the Revealing Your Future Self course is available here, with a workbook to help you frame your Visualizations.
Next month, we’re moving on to the Action portion of my four-step value system, and beginning with Prioritizing Yourself, where you will learn to make space for yourself to thrive. And we’re going to start putting all those tools we’ve accumulated up until now to practice. No more flight simulators, the real world is out there, and we’re ready for it!
Fix your crown.
